I had a solo for a while and miss it enough that I'm going to get anther. I tried a cell block on it and ran the transducer off the side but didn't like the bulk being on the side of the boat so I ended up using a chunk of duct seal putty you get at Home Depot or Lowes and shot the transducer through the hull in front of me. I mounted my depth finder onto my crate and just kept it on the floor in front of me. This worked out great because I didn't have to twist back to get to anything behind me. I kept all the bulky items I wouldn't normally use back behind the seat. The only thing you lose with this setup is your surface temp if your finder has that...and seriously I have never let the surface temp be anything other than knowing what it is...I've never let it determine where I fish. Water a foot lower and even deeper where the fish are can and will be totally different than the surface temp.

Thanks. I am concerned about that a thru hull transducer would get in the way when transitioning between solo and tandem mode. I'm sure I can find a place out of the way. Ever thought of mounting it on the back by fabricating a bracket to mount on the rudder attachment?

I've seen that done. I would consider putting it back there centered in the keel just under the foam block and run your wires under the gunnel. I put mine in the bow like that.

I have the Ultimate Tandem and use a Mad Frog Liberator over the side. It swings up and out of the way easily.
