Hi All
Has anyone had cracking on there propel housing where tube clamps onto the housing ?
I noticed hair line cracks on the housing today.
I have sent off pictures to supplier today for there feedback.
The clamp bolts were not overtightened as I checked they were just firm.
So if anyone he's experienced this please let me know.

Cheers
Laurie

Laurie, I sent you a private message regarding this.  It has happened to drives in the past as well as to my drive recently.  But Native has excellent customer service so you shouldn't need to worry.

Seems like this is the weak point in their casting.

I have seen a few like this now.

Lets see if there is a redesign to give this area more strength.

If you are out of warranty, I have repaired mine with hose clamps and 1" tubing - from a thread that was posted here. Should be able to find it with a search. Working fine for me and I use my boat allot.

The current tightening spec for the tube housing is to tighten the bolts just enough to prevent the tube from rotating in the housing. The housing can be easily tig welded and it will actually strengthen the housing.

Hi Mikem, I like your welding job, very neat.

Looking at your propel unit I see you have the latest bearing setup with the newer seals but have the older style crank arms. Or am I wrong??

Looks to me like an old propel with new bearing housings.

Cheers,

Squid.

Squidslayer, Sorry late responding. Yes, that drive unit is 301 with 401 updates.
